Larry is a Co-President at Frenkel Benefits – an EPIC Company, responsible for the executive management and leadership that drives the operation and success of Frenkel Benefits. Larry has over 28 years of experience in the employee benefits industry. He began his career working at a national carrier in their New York City group sales office where he spent ten years learning the fundamentals of the employee benefits business. Joining Frenkel as EVP and an equity-holding partner in 2001, Larry has played a significant role in the exponential growth that Frenkel Benefits has achieved along with the firm’s leadership position in the industry.
At Frenkel, Larry is actively involved with employers in designing, implementing and overseeing strategic program design and cost containment strategies such as alternative funding mechanisms, consumer driven health plans, and wellness among others. He also works with international benefit plans helping to design strategies to maximize efficiencies such as global pooling arrangements, consolidation of local plans, and utilizing international based plans.
Since joining Frenkel, Larry has helped run management and operations of the organization and been deeply involved in cultivating the younger generation of Frenkel team members. Through his mentorship, Frenkel Benefits has seen an abundance of new employees flourish into long-standing employees who each day demonstrate Frenkel’s commitment to knowledgeable service excellence.
Recognized as a leader in the insurance field, Larry has earned respect in the industry both on the insurance company side and among peer competitors. He regularly attends the broker advisory board meetings and panels of major carriers and is involved with The Council of Insurance Agents and Brokers (CIAB) in promoting the important role of the benefit advisor in today’s marketplace.
Larry graduated from State University of NY at Oneonta where he earned degrees in history and political science. He is still actively engaged in the university; Larry established the Kirshner Family Scholarship in 2017 for first-generation college students and has been recognized as an Alumni of Distinction.
Furthering his commitment to youth organizations, Larry is involved in Success Ready, a New York-based non-profit that provides college and career preparation and attire to in-need students as well as Harrison Youth Lacrosse and Fairfield University Men’s Lacrosse organizations.
In his personal time, Larry enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, boating, and playing golf. Larry and his family also have two lovable dogs, Hank (Higgy) and Spence, who enjoy their walks and if Larry is not working, he can often be found walking with Hank and Spence around their Westchester County neighborhood.
